Hi, I am Dr. Archana Mishra, and this is my quest to explore wellbeing, particularly, how this concept is understood by different people.
I was born in a small industrial town called Bokaro Steel City, and have had the privilege of studying science at Miranda House, University of Delhi, Law at the Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi, Business at the University of Western Australia, Research Methods at the University of Queensland, and recently, a PhD from the University of Queensland Business School in Australia.
I have also enjoyed living and working in Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Perth, Darwin, Midland (Texas), Brisbane, Anchorage (Alaska), and Doha. Living and working in different communities opened my eyes to many unique and beautiful ways in which we make sense of our lives. While multidisciplinary education and multicultural exposure made me deeply interested in many aspects of life, when I moved to Alaska and worked at the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation, I started examining personal and societal wellbeing closely. The need to explore what makes a good life began in Anchorage and deepened further when I came back to Brisbane and started my PhD thesis. The objective of my thesis was to explore different subjective understandings of wellbeing, and I came across the concept of adult development - a never ending journey of progressing towards broader and deeper worldviews. I became fascinated by how we continue to develop throughout our lives and how that helps us better navigate the complexities that come our way. I am now dedicated to continuing my research in these areas, and hoping to contribute, in a small way, to creating a better, more accepting, and humane society.
